GREAT's PDC drilling bits can adapt to different types of rocks and formations, and also ensure that the PDC drilling bits can remain stable under different operating conditions, and can ensure the wear resistance of the PDC drilling bits under operating conditions in high-strength or high-wear formations, reducing your Frequency of replacement during work.
Unlike roller cones, these polycrystalline diamond compact (PDC) bits are a single unit with no moving parts. The fixed cutter scrapes away the rock, allowing for more efficient operation at higher speeds in consolidated formations.
Introduction to PDC Drill Bit
The PDC Drill Bit, or fixed milling cutter, the PDC Drill Bit has exceptional penetration rates when drilling and can outperform other drill bits under the right conditions. Diamond cutters are 10 times stronger than steel, but they are brittle and can be damaged in discontinuous formations. the PDC Drill Bit is suitable for drilling through shale, salt-bearing clay stones, concrete and sand. PDC bits are designed for high speed drilling in shale, limestone and sandstone formations. However, avoid using it in gravels and sandstones.
Classification of PDC Drill Bits
He is available as Matrix Body PDC Bit or Steel Body PDC Bits. One might ask, "What's the difference?" and "Which one do I need?" Below we will introduce you to the PDC bit.
Matrix Body PDC Bit
The Matrix Body PDC Bit contains tungsten carbide material, which provides better wear and erosion resistance. The higher cutter count also allows for a heavier setting. In applications with high fluid volumes or high sand, the Matrix Body PDC Bit provides longer life and multiple drill runs.
"Matrix Body" is a very hard, fairly brittle composite material consisting of tungsten carbide particles metallurgically bonded to a softer, tougher metal binder. matrix is the ideal drill material because of its hardness to resist abrasion and erosion.
It is capable of withstanding relatively high compressive loads, but has slightly less predictable physical properties and is less resistant to impact loads than steel due to the size and location of the tungsten carbide particles it contains (as determined by design and situation).Matrix Body PDC Bit is generally more suitable than steel body bits for use in environments where intrinsic erosion may lead to drill bit failure.
Diamond impregnated bits are generally used in matrix body construction - also known as Matrix Body PDC Bits - and GREAT produces Matrix Body PDC Bits with 4, 5 and 8 blades for oil drilling.
Steel Body PDC Bits
Steel Body PDC Bits made of high alloy steel often make them serviceable and suitable for multiple runs.
As steel can withstand higher impact forces than the substrate, they are often manufactured with higher insert spacing and milling exposure to increase ROP. steel is the opposite of the substrate. It can withstand high impact loads, but is softer and lacks protection. The strength and ductility of steel gives a steel drill body a high impact resistance. The steel body is much stronger than the matrix.
A favourable feature of steel bits is that they can be easily rebuilt multiple times, as worn or damaged tools can be replaced fairly easily. This is a particular advantage for operators in low-cost drilling environments.
GREAT manufactures 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8 blades Steel Body PDC Bits for shallow oil, gas drilling and water well excavation.
Advantages of PDC Drill Bits
